Finding aids



Folger Library microfilms database.
This database lists all microfilms that have been made of Folger rare books, art, and manuscripts, including those items that are unique or restricted. Click past any "certificate errors," should you see any (typically in Internet Explorer). To order personal copies of microfilm, use these online forms.

Hand-List of microfilm and selected microfiche sets.
Updated in June 2008, this PDF lists major microfilm and microfiche sets owned by the Folger Shakespeare Library.

Folger Library online finding aids.
Guides to Folger manuscripts and other collections, many previously available only in typescript, mounted online using Encoded Archival Description (EAD).

Union first line index of English verse.
The purpose of the Index is to enable cross-institutional literary research by providing a database of first lines of manuscript and printed verse, predominantly from the early modern period. Researchers can enter keywords as search terms; search by First Line, Last Line, Author, Title, Shelfmark, Women only; limit searches to specific institutions; and sort search results in various ways.

Impositor.
An online tool to automatically arrange digital images from the collection into simulated impositions (the laying out of pages into the formes of printed sheets).

PLRE.Folger: private libraries in Renaissance England.
Complements the printed volumes of Private Libraries in Renaissance England (PLRE), an ongoing editorial project that has published seven volumes since 1992 in the Medieval and Renaissance Texts and Studies (MRTS) series.
