Folger-specific note
Folger copy: woodcuts handcolored; capital strokes in title, and first initial on leaf [*]2r in red paint; initials provided in alternate red and blue in last 2 gatherings; inscription in red paint on leaf [m]6r, under woodcut of plant numbered "cxiiij" [i.e. 94]. A few manuscript "Nota bene" markings in margins, most of them reading "NB legi p[er] totu[m]"; German name of plant corrected in woodcut no. 36. Inscriptions on title page: "Coenobij Subensis"; unidentified bookplate with "Cerf. Berr. Pere." in a shield, a stag and a bear as supporters; gift of Mrs. Mary P. Massey (on deposit Jan. 1989). In a 16th century pigskin binding, blind tooled with "Spes", "Fides" and "Caritas" stamps and initials "H.R."; two clasps; manuscript vellum fragments, one of them with neumes, used as spine reinforcement.
