Handwritten shelfmarks on title page: "B XXIII" in black ink and another pencilled one, partially erased "IIII [?]. 65"; another early shelfmark on spine, on paper label, partially illegible. Contemporary quarter pigskin binding, blind tooled with rosette stamps; inscription and label on spine, partially illegible; remains of a clasp on fore-edge; manuscript fragments used as guards; some wormholes in a few gatherings, mostly at the end of the book, slightly affecting text; repaired; in a tailored box. Bookplate of Robert Proctor with inscription "[Theta].o.12." in red ink; purchased in 1915.
