Folger copy lacks first leaf (blank), and 3 leaves at end. Initials provided in red at beginning of each part, some with brown penwork infill; capital strokes and paragraph marks in red; rubrication of printed paragraph marks throughout the book; some words of text, unevenly printed are filled in with red paint; also a few reader's marks in margins, in same paint. Early manuscript finding notes in one hand with a few drawings and markings ("Nota", "V[ide]",etc.); one of the notes refers to "Dominus suche" on leaf 14₅ recto; some notes point to inversion of text on leaves 18₃ verso and 18₆ recto. Booklabel of George Dunn with his initials, date "June 1902", and bibliographic notes pencilled on front free endpaper (no. 3900 in the Sotheby sale catalog of his library, Nov. 1917); bookplate of W.T. Smedley; purchased in 1924. In a contemporary Oxford calf binding with blind tooled decoration from the Rood and Hunt bindery; central panels made of juxtaposition of square animal stamps (unicorn, double-headed eagle with a star between its heads, 2 cocks affrontés, a chalice between 2 doves, etc.) in a border made of foliage stamps; some animal stamps are repeated in the outer border; remains of 2 clasps catching on lower cover; manuscript numbering of gatherings, affected by cropping of edges; manuscript fragment sewn inside each gathering.
