Folger copy: initials at head of text and commentary painted in gold and colors on leaf a1r, with coat of arms handpainted in lower margin (quaterly, 1 and 4 per pale argent and gules, hedgehog [in Italian "riccio"] passant; 2 and 3, argent, 2 crosses per fess azure), with initials B. R. [for B. Ricius]. Handwritten inscription in colophon "Vsui Fris Benedicti Ricii Veneti dicatur"; list of Roman kings and emperors on endleaf inserted between leaves [ ]2 and a1, in 2 hands, signed "B. Ricius" [for Bartolomeo Ricci di Lugo?]; bookplate of W.T. Smedley; purchased in 1924. A few manuscript notes in 2 hands in brown ink, providing corrections and additions in text, using signes-de-renvoi. In a Paduan or Venetian contemporary goatskin binding, blind tooled with "sarcophagus" motif; remains of 4 clasps and 5 bosses; human profile carved in wooden board inside of front cover. Cf.
