Folger-specific note
Folger copy: leaves of 1st gatherings perforated, slightly affecting text. A few early manuscript notes in brown ink, in Latin and German with markings (cross, asterisk, etc.). Ownership inscription on leaf [a]2r "Monasterij Aspacensis"; another inscription on manuscript fragment (rear pastedown): "Legi Anno Dñi: j.600.1. F. Udalric[us] Müshwang"; inscription "Duplum" (from the Bayerische Staatsbibliothek) on leaf [a]1r. Contemporary quarter goatskin binding on wooden boards, blind tooled with double and triple fillet borders, stamps of St. John the Evangelist's symbol (cf. Schwenke-Schunke Evangelisten-Symbole 97 "Aspach Afrakloster"), rosettes, palm, and eagle on both covers; evidence of a plaque on fore-edge of back cover (from a chain?) and perforation on front cover going through the first 2 gatherings; 3 paper labels on spine with inscriptions of author, title, and date, one of them reading "20[? or 30?]"; vellum fragments from an early liturgical manuscript, used as pastedowns. Purchased in 1897.
