Some worm holes in 1st gatherings, slightly affecting text. Manuscript additions in Latin in brown ink in 1st diagrams, and a note in Greek on leaf a2r; map of Italy and of pt. of the Mediterranean, sketched on front pastedown, with names in Latin; woodcut capitals rubricated in red ink throughout the book; leaves numbered by hand "1-60" in brown ink; ink in a few diagrams (unevenly printed?) has been darkened by hand. Inscription below colophon: "de Aluuize[?] pucinelo [com]pri da mo. Xa[?]do[?]"; monogram with initials "APLo" on boards, handwritten in brown ink. Contemporary half sheepskin binding on wooden boards; remains of a clasp on fore-edge, catching on back cover; title "Tractatus Spere" and monogrammed initials "APLo" handwritten on front cover, repeated on back cover; title inscription on lower edge, reading from spine to fore-edge; repaired; in a tailored box. Purchased in 1915.
