Folger-specific note
Lacks leaves f6, f7, f8, and q6 (blank). Some initials provided in brown ink; numerous early notes in margins (some perpendicular to text), brackets, markings, and a few corrections in text, ending in gathering m; some drawings, mostly in gathering i, and diagrams on leaves e3v and e4r. Brown goat/sheepskin Italian binding quartered with blind tooled three-line fillet crosses and saltires, on wooden boards; remains of head-, tail-, and fore-edge clasps hinged from the upper cover (only the head-edge one survives); six pins on back cover suggest a vellum title plaque (no longer in place). Cf. Fine and historic bookbindings from the Folger Shakespeare Library, 10:3; perforation of the last 3 leaves, from one of the nails in the back cover, slightly affecting text; repaired and rebacked several times; in a tailored box. Inscriptions and autographs by Camillo Trivulzio on front blank leaf; bookstamp "Museo Cavaleri" at foot of leaf a2r; bookplate of W.T. Smedley; purchased in 1924.
