Manuscript notes in margins in brown ink and different hands; some punctuation, corrections and filling of unevenly printed letters in same ink; edges have been trimmed affecting manuscript notes. Octagonal bookstamp with arms (a tree on 3 hills), unidentified, on leaf [a]1r. In a later calf binding with gold tooled arabesque design at center of boards and double fillet border. Bookplates of Richard Boycott, Charles Butler (no. 427 in the Sotheby sale catalog of his collection, April 1911) and W.T. Smedley; another slip cut from English printed material, pasted on marble paper on front pastedown, under the bookplates, hiding tearing in the paper (of an earlier mark of ownership?); purchased in 1924.
