Folger-specific note
Leaf X8, blank, lacking. A few early manuscript notes. Early marks of ownership in upper and lower margins of leaf a1r, erased, illegible. 15th century Italian goatskin binding, blind tooled with stamps of a quadrangular ropework knot and cross shaped stamps in central panels; remains of 4 brass clasps, 2 on fore-edge, 1 at head, 1 at tail (catches on back cover and a leather strap); inscription on fore-edge "Sum̃a angelica", reading from head to tail; pastedowns made of several layers of blank leaves and of later printed waste (in Italian, discussing career of arms versus scholarship as argued in Cicero, Averroës, Aristotle, etc.); repaired several times; rebacked; in a tailored box. Purchased in 1915.
