Summary
Includes apparently contemporary fair copy accounts in a fine italic hand of Sir John Norris's and Sir Francis Drake's expedition to Portugal, 1589; the camp and siege of Kinsale, Ireland, 1601; Queen Elizabeth I's last three months, 1603; and the rebellion of Shane O'Neile, 1558 (leaves 30-34); a recipe for "A dormant drink" (leaf 34) with all of the ingredients written backwards (i.e., yppop=poppy); accounts from Richard II, 1394-1395; almanac entries; extracts from Stow's Annals, 1605, p. 498-499 (leaves 34v-35r); extracts from late editions of Camden's History of Elizabeth, which includes account of her last three months of life (leaves 23r-26v); Elizabeth's epitaph (leaf 28).
