With numerous pencil line markings and underlinings; numerous dog-eared leaves; slips of paper used as markers placed before p. 111, 119, 413, 515, 543, 663, 745, 885. A bay leaf loosely inserted after p. 412, in reference to Ben Jonson being crowned with laurels. Contemporary calf binding, no paste-downs. Purchased from Maggs, 21 Aug 2008. Acquired in honor of Richard J. Kuhta, Eric Weinmann Librarian of the Folger Shakespeare Library 1994-2008.

Copious marginal marks (most often a small red shield), underlining, and notes by Sir Edward Dering in red and black ink. In contemporary leather (polished calf) inboard binding with Dering's arms ("Edoardus Dering Miles et Baronettus") stamped in gold on covers; red edges; spine repaired. Bookplate: Robert S. Pirie. Provenance: belonged to the Rev. W.R. Saunders in the 20th century; sold at his sale at Phillips Bath (lot 138), 1992-10-05 to Maggs, who sold to Robert S. Pirie; sold at the Pirie sale, Sotheby's, New York, 2015-12-2/4 to Christopher Edwards.
