Provenance: (Folger was offered this painting along with Dicksee's Juliet and the Friar [D23] by Maggs in September 1925 at £40 and £60 respectively. He must have declined, as they appear in a Maggs catalogue of 1926 [no. 251], and he acquired them in September of that year at a 10 percent discount)
